Cookies vs Storage

The GDPR briefly mentions cookies but cookies are not the only type of data storage that GDPR and other privacy laws cover. Instead, they reference online identifiers, personal data, and use language that makes clear that all types of browser storage are covered by their rules. For example, the storage of data in the browser is an online identifier whether local storage, cookie, or browser databases

Due to the proliferation of local storage, browser-based databases, and cookies, Osano has made the decision to reference "browser storage" rather than "cookies" throughout the consent management banners and category selection tools.
