Osano Cookie Consent Bot Filtering

Updated 14 days ago

How does Osano handle bot traffic?

Automated traffic is an increasingly common part of web traffic and can come from many sources, including search engines, monitoring services, AI tools, and other automated systems. Not all bot traffic is malicious, and as these technologies become more sophisticated, it can be difficult to reliably distinguish automated traffic from legitimate visitors.

Osano maintains protections against malicious traffic and DDoS activity. However, we do not broadly exclude all traffic identified as automated from Cookie Consent usage.

Taking an overly aggressive approach to bot filtering can inadvertently block legitimate traffic or prevent the appropriate consent experience from being delivered. For this reason, traffic that reaches your website and loads Osano may be included in your overall usage, including some automated traffic.

Managing unwanted bot traffic

If your organization is experiencing significant unwanted automated traffic, we recommend managing that traffic at the website, CDN, or web application firewall level before Osano loads. This gives your organization greater control over which traffic should be permitted based on your specific needs and policies.

If you're seeing an unexpected increase in Cookie Consent traffic, please contact your Osano Representative. We can help review what you're seeing and provide guidance on appropriate next steps.
