You can now add an Approval step to a workflow. It puts a person in the middle of the process: when a request comes in, the assigned reviewer approves it before any of the downstream tasks are created.
Approval is optional. Add it only if you want a review gate.
When you add it, it always sits first in the workflow, ahead of your manual tasks.
If you previously used Set as Priority to get eyes on a request before work started, Approval is the feature to use instead.
The Save Changes button is gone. Changes to a workflow are now committed with the Publish button on the component.
While you have edits that have not gone live yet, an indicator appears next to the Actions header so you can see at a glance that the published version and your working version differ.
This means you can build out or adjust a workflow across several sittings and publish it once it is ready, rather than saving in pieces.
The Actions tab has a cleaner, more modern layout. The concepts are the same, so if you know the current Processing tab you will recognize everything here. The empty state now prompts you to add your first action and offers the two types side by side: Manual Task or Approval.
Same functionality, new labels and controls.
Area | Before | Now |
|---|---|---|
Tab name | Processing | Actions |
Saving | Save Changes button | Publish button, with an unpublished changes indicator |
Task name field | Name | Task Name |
Owner field | Assignee | Who Handles It |
Vendor notification | Notify Vendor | Notify Vendors, and the input only appears once the toggle is on |
Data store | Free text entry | Dropdown selection. To add a new data store, type the name and click Create |
Review before work starts | Set as Priority | Approval action |
Nothing is required ahead of the release, but a short review afterwards is worth the time.
Open the Actions tab once the update lands and confirm your workflows look the way you expect.
Check task ownership. Because assignments are now made one task at a time, this is a good moment to confirm the right people are on the right tasks.
Decide whether you want an Approval step. If a colleague currently reviews incoming requests informally, this is a chance to build that into the workflow.
Remember to hit Publish. Edits will not go live until you do, and the indicator next to the Actions header will tell you when something is waiting.
