Disclosures

Updated 27 days ago

Osano's platform allows you to disclose cookies, scripts, and iFrames to your end users, providing comprehensive transparency about all tracking technologies used on your website. Additionally, you can perform bulk operations to manage these disclosures efficiently.

What are Disclosures, and why would I use them?

Disclosures (previously referred to as cookie disclosures or cookie notices) provide detailed information about the tracking technologies used on your website, including:

  • Cookies: Small text files stored on users' devices

  • Scripts: JavaScript code that executes on your website

  • iFrames: Embedded content from third-party sources

These disclosures help users understand exactly what they are consenting to and build trust through transparency.

Why Use Disclosures?

  • Legal Compliance

  • Meet GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulation requirements

  • Demonstrate accountability for data collection practices

  • User Trust and Transparency

  • Build user confidence through complete transparency and help them make informed consent decisions

  • Differentiate your brand as privacy-conscious and trustworthy

  • Business Benefits

  • Improve user engagement with detailed, trustworthy information

  • Centralize all tracking technology information in one place

  4. Provide the following information when available:

  • Name: The specific name of the cookie, script, or iFrame

  • Classification: Category (Essential, Analytics, Marketing, Personalization, or Blocklist)

  • Vendor: The provider of the item

Editing Descriptions

To edit the Description field:

  • Click the caret dropdown button on the left of the item

  • Enter your description in the text field

  • Save your changes

Bulk Disclosures

Osano provides bulk disclosure functionality to streamline the process of disclosing multiple cookies, scripts, and iFrames at once.

How Bulk Disclosures Work

  • In the rules tab, click the top checkbox on the far left to select all visible items on the current page or click individual checkboxes to select specific items

  • Important: Your selections are limited to the current page only. If you have multiple pages of items, you'll need to perform bulk disclosures on each page separately.

  • Click the Disclose button at the top

Troubleshooting

Changes Not Appearing

  • Browser Caching: Changes may be delayed for returning visitors due to browser caching (typically 24 hours)

  • Immediate Testing: Use a private or incognito window to see changes immediately

  • Republishing: Ensure you've republished your configuration after making changes

Content Security Policy Issues

If disclosures are not displaying, your site's Content Security Policy (CSP) may be blocking content from disclosure.api.osano.com. See Osano and Content Security Policies for more details.

Missing Items

  • Check that items are properly classified in your CMP configuration

  • Verify that third-party services are correctly configured

  • Review your cookie discovery settings
