US State Level Legislation Opt-Out Banner Format Setting

US State Level Legislation Opt-Out Banner Format is available to users on Premier (previously Enterprise) plans. 

Osano uses each visitor's IP address to geolocate that user and provide them with the cookie banner that is most compliant in their location.

 

Opt-in Cookie Banner: Default

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Texas, Utah, & Virginia, Osano defaults to an Opt-In banner like so: 

Screenshot 2023-02-16 at 4.35.59 PMThis banner requires users to opt- in to all cookie/script categories outside of "Essential" or "Strictly Necessary." This banner is a good faith banner as it requests explicit consent before tracking users. 

 

Opt-out Cookie Banner

The US State Level Legislation Opt-Out Banner Format switch counteracts this setting in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Texas, Utah, & Virginia and turns the above default into an Alert and Opt-Out banner like the one below:

This banner does not require explicit consent and provides visitors an automatic opt-in to all cookie/script categories. Users have the ability to change these settings at any time by accessing the Storage Preferences drawer widget.

Enabling the US State Level Legislation Opt-Out Banner Format setting

  • To enable the US State Level Legislation, Opt-Out Banner Format, log in to my.osano.com as an Administrator or a Consent Manager. 
  • Navigate to Cookie Consent.
  • Click on the Configuration in which you want to enable the US State Level Legislation Opt-Out Banner Format.
  • In the "settings," flip the US State Level Legislation Opt-Out Banner Format switch to the right (on). 
  • Save changes and publish your configuration.
